When to Visit:

Sintra’s landscape undergoes enchanting transformations with each passing season. The parks and monuments are open year-round, with closures only on December 25th and January 1st. Summer months tend to draw larger crowds, so visiting during the low season allows for a more serene experience amidst the colorful autumn leaves, winter camellia collections, or the delicate blooms of spring.

How to Explore:

To fully appreciate the diversity of Sintra’s parks, palaces, and monuments, plan for a two or three-day visit. Allocate at least one day for the Palace of Pena and its sprawling 83-hectare park, which includes the Chalet of the Countess of Edla and the Moorish Castle. Exploring any other monument thoroughly typically requires at least half a day. Sintra’s microclimate adds to the allure of its hills but also brings swift changes in temperature and humidity. It’s advisable to dress appropriately and wear comfortable walking shoes for your explorations.
