A Scavenger’s Beginning

Rey’s beginnings were made a fact in the desolate desert of Jakku: a bleak, metallic world filled with rubbish left from an ancient war. A young girl, Rey remembers little of her parents, who seemed to have abandoned her onto her own means among the wreckage. The passing of time had grown her accustomed to living off the land, scrounging parts from fallen ships and machinery left to rust in Jakku’s waste.

Though the life was hard, Rey held onto hope. In her heart, she knew that someday her family would come back for her. That hope became her guiding light through the bitter, relentless heat and the lonely nights. But she wasn’t just tough; she was inquisitive and resourceful, apt skills that helped her survive. The upbringing on Jakku trained Rey to be observant and skilled-two important components that would later prove priceless. She had yet to know how far this journey would take her or the power she held within her.

Everything changed on that fateful day when Rey’s path crossed with that of a small droid named BB-8. The droid was to carry an important message to the Resistance, and Rey felt compelled to help him. This single act of kindness set Rey in search of her mysterious connection with the Force and onto a path that would irrevocably change her life.

In the desert on a regular scavenging day, Rey came across a distressed droid. This droid was called BB-8 and belonged to a pilot named Poe Dameron, who had been captured by the First Order. The little droid held a critical map leading to the missing Jedi, Luke Skywalker. It was an instinct unlike Rey’s usual self-she always stuck to herself-but it drew her to protect BB-8.

Rey’s kindness was taking BB-8 back to her shelter, a fact that would make him far safer with her than being exposed on Jakku’s hostile surface. Her instincts kicked in to protect the droid from such conditions. Under her protection, BB-8 was safe, and Rey began to understand what this little droid was used for. Rey’s life, which was rather confined to these desolate Jakku fields, was now up to one’s neck in unexpected adventure. BB-8 was not an ordinary droid; he was the call toward something greater.

Through interactions with BB-8, Rey learned much about the Resistance and its war with the First Order. She listened, growing increasingly curious about the galaxy beyond Jakku. A seed of hope began to develop in her to leave the planet, a hope nurtured by BB-8’s bravery and commitment to his mission. The world was filled with a little more than just surviving-there was purpose and adventure to be found in it.

It was when the First Order finally caught up with BB-8 that Rey’s world turned upside down. Needing to escape with the droid, she came across two Resistance fighters: Finn and Han Solo. Teaming up with them, she found herself in her first battle with the First Order-an eye-opening fight that would make her realize the strength hidden inside her.

The Awakening: Rey Discovers Her Connection to the Force

As Rey traveled the galaxy, she began to experience strange stirrings within. She couldn’t account for all her visions and feelings. Later, she would come to learn that the Force was awakening inside her, revealing long-shrouded truths. Her powers would appear at critical junctures-most especially in times of confrontation with the First Order.

Her first conflict with Kylo Ren was the birth of her realization. In a fight, Kylo tried to get into her head, and he was in for a shock since Rey prevented that. She could feel an overwhelming force press back, hence surfacing her inner strength. This made Kylo go into a state of shock, and he was compelled to treat her not as any other scavenger but more as a potential threat. Rey was surprised too, for the hidden powers were covered inside her.

As she journeyed further, Rey was perplexed by these new powers and unable to control them. She felt a yearning to learn more, to know what was happening with her. This desire for knowledge and comprehension grew until she sought the training of a Jedi. The only Jedi who could train her, however, was the long-lost Master, Luke Skywalker.

The Force was exhilarating and terrifying to Rey. She knew it would not go away, neither would perfecting that power. The Force was calling her, and an undeniable pull tugged at her toward her destiny.

The Search for a Master: Rey Finds Luke Skywalker

Compelled by a desperate need to tap into her skills, Rey embarked on a journey to find Luke Skywalker. She went to a so-remote planet now called Ahch-To, where it was said the Jedi Master had retreated. The journey to Ahch-To was physically and emotionally trying since Rey sought guidance in a galaxy shrouded by darkness.

As Rey landed on the island, she was immediately starstruck to finally set her eyes on Luke. He was not a chiseled hero of old but rather a fatigued person carrying the burdens of past failures. Unmindful of all the eagerness in her spirit, at first Luke refused to train Rey. Actually, he was afraid of her and her potential-the powerful and dangerous energy in her, akin to his former pupil Kylo Ren.

Rey, however, was determined to understand the Force and to control her abilities. She pursued it relentlessly until Luke’s reluctance yielded, and he agreed to teach her the ways of the Jedi, but in a very cautious way. The lessons that Luke gave were grueling-both physically and mentally challenging for Rey.

As Rey was training, she grew even closer to the Force. She learned not just about the powers but also about inner strength, being cognizant of emotions, and what she intended to do or say. She would learn to balance impulse with control and master those skills that are right for a Jedi. It was more than training she did with Luke; it was a road to self-discovery.

Trials and Temptations: Rey’s Battle with the Dark Side

As she was training, Rey fell into the temptation of the Dark Side. Luke had warned her about it, but somehow the power of the Dark Side beckoned to her. It came out, again, in the visions of her past and future that led her to painful truth about herself.

The Dark Side did beckon, promising her power and control. Feeling abandoned and utterly alone, Rey was susceptible to its pull. She wanted answers about her parents and where she fit into the galaxy, and the Dark Side knew this, feeding on her need to belong and have a purpose.

At one point, she entered a mystical cave on Ahch-To, hoping to gain answers about her family. Instead, the cave presented her with being very much alone, facing just her reflection. This vision summoned her to realize that her strength came from within her and not in her heritage or lineage. This was an incredibly humbling, yet empowering, experience that helped Rey resist the Dark Side.

Still, with that encounter, the struggle for Rey was not even close to being over. Her journey was one long, staunch test of will-constant decisions between light and dark. With each decision, she came closer and closer to the knowledge of her true power, guiding her on the path of the Jedi.

She had completed her training and was now a full Jedi. Gone was the scavenger from Jakku; instead, she was a warrior with a mission. The journey had engrained in her what courage and resilience truly meant. It is with this strength that Rey readies herself to face her foes and defend the galaxy.

Rey’s dedication to the Force became her guiding principle. She committed to the ways of a Jedi, determined to use her talents for good. The connection to the Force was not an enigma anymore but a powerful tool she mastered with assurance. She was ready to stand against the darkness to protect the people she grew to care about.

That will, of course, be put to the test in her final confrontation with Kylo Ren and the First Order. Rey’s arc finally completed the circle-from scavenger on Jakku to Jedi fighting for the future of the galaxy. She faced her adversaries not with fear but with the strength of a Jedi Knight.

Rey’s rise to become a Jedi was not a victory for herself alone; it was a victory of hope and resilience. She had overcome her fears, her doubts, the allure of darkness. It was a testament to inner strength and a reminder that true power lies in the light.
